The McCloud judgement and remedy
The McCloud judgment ruled that the 2015 public sector pension reforms treated members differently based on age by only including protection for those approaching retirement.
The McCloud remedy is effective from 1 October 2023 and will remove the age discrimination found.
So what happens next?
You don’t need to do anything. We’ll be in touch with anyone who is due an underpin enhancement under the McCloud remedy. Most members are unlikely to be affected as the vast majority are better off in the career average scheme, and where an increase is applied, it is likely to be small.
